Campaign update n°3
We are happy to share with you great news: in 3 months time we should be witnessing the first steps of a European-wide Youth Guarantee!
In December, the European Commission will present a youth package, including a proposal for a European Youth Guarantee and a Quality Framework for Internships. Earlier this week, Irish Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton (Labour Party) said that she would make a European Youth Guarantee a priority for the Irish Presidency of the EU, which starts in January 2013.
It is thanks to campaigners like you that we can achieve such results, so a big thank you for your engagement! Now it's up to you to make sure that as many decision-makers as possible are aware of the upcoming Irish plans.
PES Women has also been a key player in promoting our campaign: after almost a year on the road calling for a European Youth Guarantee, tomorrow at its Annual Conference PES Women will put at the center of the debate "how to fight young women's unemployment".
Meanwhile we have received important news from Finland: thanks to the commitment of the Social Democrats, a partner in the governing coalition, a youth guarantee will enter into force early 2013 in Finland.
In Lithuania the campaign has hit the road during the summer, when it was presented at both the Summer Camp and the Congress of the Social Democratic party.
You too can join the thousands of campaigners calling for a European Youth Guarantee. Remember, your support is key to tackle youth unemployment in Europe.
Keep up the good work!
