The youth guarantee campaign was a success and this guarantee is now a reality. 

However, youth unemployment is still an issue in Europe and there is much to do to improve young people's chances at a better future.

In this sense, we have launched the Youth Plan campaign, calling for

• a permanent youth guarantee to be extended to people until 30 years old
• an extended Erasmus programme that includes vocational and high-school students
• culture checks to provide access to young people to culture
• a child guarantee: access to free healthcare, free education, free childcare, decent housing and adequate nutrition

While the European Heads of States and Governments, institutions, and social partners meet at the High level conference on youth employment in Paris, Notre Europe - Jacques Delors Institute publishes a Policy Paper on these issues, by Maria João Rodrigues, member of the board of directors.

The President of the PES Group in the Committee of the Regions (CoR), Karl-Heinz Lambertz, and the First Vice-President of the CoR EDUC commission,Jean-François Istasse, took today part in a conference co-organised by the CoR and the German National Agency for the “Youth in Action” EU Programme (JUGEND für Europa). The conference, entitled "Think European – Act Local: the role of federal states and regions in the EU Youth Strategy", - brought together stakeholders active in youth policies to discuss the role of EU regions in framing youth policies and exchanging good practices.

Last week, SOLIDAR brought together 15 young trade unionists at a conference in the European Parliament, hosted by MEP Emer Costello and attended by MEPs Emily Turunen, Elisabeth Schroedter and Marije Cornelissen, Vice-President of the Committee of Regions, Mercedes Bresso, as well as representatives from Eurofound and the European Youth Forum.

Alejandro Cercas, Member of the European Parliament affiliated with  Group of the Socialists & Democrats Group, comments on the measures to fight youth unemployment at European level, focusing on a Youth Guarantee.
