A European Youth Guarantee would ensure that every young person is offered a job, further education or work-focused training at the latest four months after leaving education or becoming unemployed.
This initiative is a Labour campaign in Ireland and is based upon best practice in other European countries with low youth unemployment. I am working in Brussels and with representatives of the government to introduce the Youth Guarantee in Ireland.
To this end, Emer Costello MEP organises an information event on the Youth Guarantee next Saturday 1st December.
Speakers include Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton TD, John Lyons TD and Massimiliano Mascherini, Research Manager at the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) (to be confirmed).
Refreshments will be provided at registration, with lunch served following the event.
