On behalf of the PES Group, Yoomi Renström, Member of Ovanåker Municipal Council (Sweden) and PES Group EDUC coordinator, took yesterday part in a workshop on a European Youth Guarantee, organised in the framework of the 2013 edition of theYES – Young European Socialists Summer Camp, taking place in Turkey at the invitation of the PES sister party CHP (Republican People's Party), between 14 and 21 July.

"Local and regional authorities play a key role in framing and implementing measures to promote youth employment, providing young people with opportunities and support, and exchanging good practice", pointed out Yoomi Renström, urging for actively involving young people and youth organisations when drawing up youth strategies. She also stressed the need to better tackle female unemployment. 

The YES Summer Camp, which is a major annual event of the PES youth organisation, brings together some 1000 young socialists and social democrats from all over Europe, exchanging ideas and sharing experiences around numerous workshops, political seminars and conferences. The key themes of this year's edition were employment, democracy, equality, solidarity and Open Europe. 

It it worth reminding that the PES Group has been fully involved in the campaign of the Party of European Socialists ‘Your Future is my Future: A European Youth Guarantee Now’ and is advocating a swift implementation of Youth Guarantees and appropriate funding.
