European Commissioner for Social Affairs, Laszlo Andor, endorses the idea of a Youth Guarantee
László Andor: “The Youth Guarantee expresses not simply solidarity but responsibility of the government to help young people”
In a major step towards the introduction of a European Youth Guarantee, social democratic Commissioner László Andor has showed his support in a video recently released by Good Society Debate. This is a remarkable sign from Andor and, more importantly, a sign of how the pressure of the campaigners all across Europe is making the difference.
The European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion stated: “The Youth Guarantee expresses not simply solidarity but responsibility of the government to help young people [get] a job or another learning opportunity within a short period after leaving school”.
Despite the significant progress made in the last weeks, there is still a long way to go to make the European Youth Guarantee a reality. The European Council must support the guarantee and a stable source of funding has to be clearly identified. With your help, the Youth Guarantee will become a top priority on the European agenda. We need to keep the pressure up!
